Careers to Look up to! AgustaWestland UK Apprenticeship Programmes

AgustaWestland is one of the world leaders in the design, manufacture and support of helicopters.  We are part of Finmeccanica, which is one of the defence contractors in the world.  We have been established for nearly 90 years and pride ourselves both on our reputation for excellence and for providing opportunities for our people - here is your opportunity to become part of this international success story.  We are looking for men and women to join our specially designed Apprenticeship and Training Programmes.

ENGINEERING APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME

• Machinists/Fitters
• Electrical/Mechanical Aircraft Fitters
• Mechanical/Composite Aircraft Fitters
• Maintenance Fitters Electrical/Mechanical

With a practical aptitude for, and interest in, Engineering, you are on track to achieve five GCSEs at Grade C or above.  Specifically, you will need to achieve these grades in Maths, English and either a Science or Design-based subject.  During your first year, you will be a full time student at Yeovil College, following ‘Performing Engineering Operations’ training plus a relevant academic course.

TECHNICIAN APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME


• Mechanical/Avionic Technicians

On track to achieve five GCSEs, including Maths and Science at Grade B or above plus three additional subjects (including English) at Grade C or above, your first year will be spent as a full time student at Yeovil College.  You will follow ‘Performing Engineering Operations’ training plus a relevant academic course.  Successful completion of your first year on any of the above programmes, leads to registration under the ‘Advanced Modern Apprenticeship’ scheme. You will earn, whilst you learn the engineering and interpersonal skills required to become competent in your chosen career.  With AgustaWestland UK offering the best possible start to their careers, past apprentices have gone on to the highest levels in the engineering profession. BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION TRAINING PROGRAMME

A two year programme, you must display an interest in a career in business administration.  On track to achieve five GCSEs (including English and Maths) at Grade C or above, you will gain valuable experience by working across a variety of areas in the Company, including Purchasing, Customer Support, Human Resources, Commercial and Finance.  You will be registered on an ‘Advanced Modern Apprenticeship’ and gain recognised professional qualifications as well as acquiring and developing business skills.  You will be given an excellent start to a career in Business Administration with the possibility for future career development.


BUSINESS SUPPORT TRAINING PROGRAMME

An 18-month programme, you must display an interest in a career in business.  On track to achieve an ‘A’ Level or GNVQ in a Business related subject.  You will gain valuable experience by working across a variety of areas in the Company, including Purchasing, Customer Support, Human Resources, Commercial and Finance.  You will be registered on a Foundation Degree in Business and Management and gain recognised professional qualifications as well as acquiring and developing business skills.


UNDERGRADUATE INDUSTRIAL PLACEMENT PROGRAMME

ENGINEERING PLACEMENTS

Having achieved 3 A-Levels, at grades C and above including Math and the Sciences, you should be undertaking a relevant degree course at a recognised institution.  In addition you should achieve an average grade of 65% in your studies at university.  You must convince us that you have a clear aptitude and desire for the subject.

BUSINESS PLACEMENTS

Having achieved 3 A-Levels, at grades C and above including English, you should be undertaking a relevant degree course at a recognised institution. In addition you should achieve an average grade of 65% in your studies at university.  You must convince us that you have a clear aptitude and desire for the subject.

Industrial Placements fall into two categories:
Summer Placements - Engineering
Covering a 3 month period from June to September, successful students are offered a fixed term contract for the duration of their placement with the organisation including the associated benefits of annual leave and salary. Specific departmental placements are agreed with your training officer prior to your placement.

'Year Out' Industrial Placements - Engineering & Business
Covering a 12 month period from September to September, successful students are offered a fixed term contract for the duration of their placement with the organisation including the associated benefits of annual leave and salary. Specific departmental placements are agreed with your training officer prior to your placement.  Students will generally stay in placements for a 12 week period moving around the business to gain full benefit.
