Inspiring Youth Conference 2008

The Inspiring youth Awards were launched in February 2007 by the Recruiting Department in conjunction with the South Yorkshire Black Police Association, the award is aimed at young ethnic minority people aged 13 to 17 year old from our local communities, encouraging them to become leaders and do well in their studies whatever that might be.

The results of the pilot proved very positive showing the huge commitment, enthusiasm and dedication that our young people achieved whilst working towards this award.

THE CONFERENCE

All applicants should attend the Inspiring Youth Conference, which is in Doncaster on 13th May 2008.

During this event you will hear a number of inspirational speakers, sharing their life stories with you, sharing the ups and downs they have come across whilst on their journey to where they are today. This proved very interesting to the audience last year. After lunch you will have the opportunity to attend workshops for careers and activities. Last year it was dancing, boxing, with former champion boxer, Johnny Nelson, and careers workshops. Lots of students had so much fun.

At the end of the conference you will be given an application form to enter the competition which will include a number of prizes including a trip overseas. (This exact location is to be announced at the conference). Last years 3 winners spent 5 days in Bahrain. The runners up won VIP days out with Royal Airforce, Army and South Yorkshire Police and £500 worth of dance lessons with a professional dance company, donated by The Royal Air Force.

This year’s prizes will be announced at the conference.

To enter this competition you will be given an application form at the conference. You then have up to 5 months to work on this award, you need to send the completed application back to us by the end of September 2008, you can send it earlier if you wish but the longer you leave it the more evidence you will be able to write, which will gain you more points.
