head for the bright lights!

Fancy a career in stage, TV or music? Then local initiatives aimed at teenagers might be for you. The Brixton Base Project is one such project

Launched last summer, Brixton Base Project ran for six weeks as part of a community drive which aims at getting teenagers off the street and channelling them into a more positive role in the society.

During their time on the project, the participants made their own films or music, top professionals in the arts lectured at these workshops, and guest speakers came to share their experiences and expertise with these youngsters.

On completion of the six weeks, the youngsters received a CD or DVD of their work, as well as being presented with a certificate of their achievements.

Brixton Base is a unique community Multi-Media recording company and label based in South London, covering the boroughs of Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham and Croydon.

It aims to improve the value of the community by providing a multi-facetted company to harness develop and market the talent and skills of young people for self-empowerment and recognition through the arts culture.
